Earlier this week, Nicolas Maduro had announced that Venezuelan troops will arrive at the border with Colombia for military exercises aimed at protecting Venezuela’s territorial integrity. The troops are expected to dispatch on the 10th of September, 2019.

Amid growing tensions with Colombian President, Ivan Duque, Maduro has announced yesterday (7th of September) that the Venezuelan military will also be relocating several batteries of Russian-made S-300 anti-aircraft artillery to the border with Colombia. Each battery, tested in Syria, is made up of six launch vehicles, each with four missile systems.

The socialist dictator has accused the Colombian President, Ivan Duque, of plotting with the United States to overthrow his government through a military invasion.

President Ivan Duque in a statement this week did not deny the accusation. Instead he called Nicolas Maduro a “threat to the entire Region” and remarked, “Instead of spending so much money on missiles, he should protect the people by giving them food.”
