“Porta dos Fundos” is a Brazilian YouTube-based comedy series. Netflix is a worldwide Streaming company which offers paid subscriptions for streaming video content.

Both the Brazilian sitcom “Porta dos Fundos” and the streaming company “Netflix” is under fire in Brazil for an episode of Porta dos Fundos which portrays Jesus as gay.

The eposide is being aired by Netflix and sparked public outcry amongst Brazilians, especially of the Christian community for what they call “blasphemy.”

Lawyer Paulo Henrique Cremoneze, vice-president of the Union of Catholic Jurists of São Paulo (UJUCASP), says the work is offensive and that the constitutional right to freedom of expression does not justify attacks. In addition to boycotting the group and the streaming platform, the faithful also go against the brands that sponsor them.

The film shows a homosexual relationship between Jesus Christ and Satan, as well as a love triangle between God, Mary and Joseph. An online petition has already gathered 180,000 signatures and asks Netflix to remove the series from its collection.

The video below was posted by a popular Christian leader in Brazil.

Transcript:

I am cancelling my Netflix Subscription. You are making jokes boy? This bullshit of Christmas special which portrays my Lord Jesus as gay…you have offended so many people in Brazil. I’m going to the civil police…if you do not respect our faith, you will respect the penalty of the law.
