Brazil’s Health Ministry Investigates A “Very Likely” Case of Coronavirus

Brazil‘s health Ministry has up to yesterday discarded all suspected cases of the coronavirus, however, late last night, there appeared one that officials say is likely to hit home. This is the case of a 22-years-old Brazilian student from the state of Minas Gerais.

The 22 years old female, whose name has been withheld, had returned on 24th of January, 2020 from Wuhan – China – the epicenter of the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

For privacy reasons, the patient’s name has been withheld. However, she is said to have returned from Wuhan, China on the 24th of January and is exhibiting all the symptoms compatible with the coronavirus. Fourteen other persons who had contact with the patient are also being monitored by health officials.

So far, 127 suspected cases of Coronavirus were investigated in Brazil – none were confirmed.

Results To Be Released Friday

The results of the examinations, which are to determine whether this is a case of coronavirus or not, is expected to be ready this Friday (31 January). The patient is presently interned at the Hospital Eduardo de Menezes in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Brazil Raises Alert Level to 2: Imminent Danger

Meanwhile, Brazil’s Health Ministry has raised the alert level for coronovirus in Brazil up from 1 to 2 on a scale of 1 to 3 – with level 3 being a national health emergency.

So far, over 100 persons have died from coronavirus around the world, and there are confirmed cases of the virus in the United States and Canada.

No Need to Panic

In the meantime, Brazil’s Health Officials have advised residents that there is no need to worry about the Coronavirus. “We have dealt with SARS and similar viruses, and we are prepared to fight the Coronavirus if it comes to Brazil.” – Brazil’s Health Officials (paraphrased).

Meanwhile, Brazil’s health ministry has advised Brazilians not to travel to China if possible.
