Pregant Woman Dies of Coronavirus in Brazil, Baby Rescued

We often hear numbers and statistics of the coronavirus coming from all over the world, but the human costs of the pandemic is actually a bit more than we can come to terms with.

In Recife, Brazil, a young physiotherapist battled for her life while doctors worked around the clock to save her. She didn’t make it. Viviane Albuquerque passed away last Sunday evening, 5th of April 2020. She was 31 weeks pregnant.

The baby has been rescued by a cesarean section operation and is presently hospitalized in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit of the private hospital.

Viviane Albuquerque was the first pregnant woman who died due to Acute Respiratory Syndrome, caused by the coronavirus in Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil.

As of today, 8th of April, 2020, Brazil has recorded over 15,000 confirmed cases and over 800 coronavirus deaths across the country.
