The October 2017 Las Vegas Shooting was a terrorist attack committed by a white American against mostly white Americans on American soil. It is so far the deadliest mass murder in modern American history.

Over 22,000 people had gathered for a country music festival in Las Vegas Village, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on the evening of October 1, 2017. On stage was country star Jason Aldean. When the shooting erupted, the band was doing the closing performance. At first, most people thought that the rattling sounds might have been fireworks, a broken speaker cabinet or some other unwanted nuisance. But the truth is, the 15 acre concert lot was being leveled by military grade gunfire.

“The last possible thing I thought could be happening was somebody shooting a gun at us,” Aldean said.

The band continued to perform about a minute into the attack – until the screams became more audible and people started scattering and running for cover.

About 300 meters away from the concert lot, aiming through a broken window on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Hotel, a maniac was spraying bullets into the crowd of people. 59 people died from bullet wounds that night – 31 of them on the spot and 27 of them at the hospital. The final victim died from gunshot injuries at the hospital two days after the shooting. The fatalities include 22 men and 37 women ranging from 20 to 67 years of age. Further, a 57 years old California woman who had been paralyzed from the shooting died on November 15, 2019 – more than two years after the shooting. More than 800 people were injured during the shooting.
