Meanwhile, Hamas has vowed to continue its rocket attacks against Israel.
Israel reported that so far over 1600 rockets have been fired into Israel killing 6 civilians and one IDF soldier. An unknown number of Israeli civilians have been wounded and countless properties destroyed by rockets fired from Gaza into Israel. In retaliation, the Israeli military said today that it has struck more than 600 “military targets” in Gaza.
The last cross-border ground operation into Palestine by Israel was carried out between December 2008 and January, 2009 after Hamas fired rockets into Israel. Israel responded first with airstrikes but later executed a ground offensive as Israeli war tanks and soldiers, shadowed by helicopter gunships, moved into Gaza killing about 1,500 Palestinians including about 900 Palestinian civilians. Only 13 Israeli lives, 10 military and 3 civilians, were lost in the entire conflict.
