According to reports from the federal government, FAB (Brazilian Air Force) aircraft today (Saturday 24th August) began combating the Amazon Forest Fires. According to a statement, two C-130 Hercules planes are already being used to contain the flames from Porto Velho, capital of Rondonia.

The aircraft can carry up to 12,000 liters of water, according to the Air Force. The launch lasts seven seconds, and the water spreads over a 500-meter line.

Yesterday, President Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) signed a decree authorizing the Armed Forces military to fight the Amazon Fires for at least a month. Initially, the government will mobilize troops in four states: Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins and Pará.
