Thousands of minority groups across the United States of America are now up in arms after the police killing of an unarmed black man. ATM machines have been hammered down, cars have been set on fire, roads have been blocked, stores have been broken and looted and buildings have been set on fire.
The murder took place on Monday, 25th of May, 2020 in the city of Minneapolis in the state of Minnesota in the United States of America.
According to reports, the police were called in on the grounds of attempted forgery in which 46 years old African American, George Floyd, was the suspect. When the police arrived, they found George in his car, and said that initially he physically resisted arrest. As a result, according to the policemen involved, they were forced to use restraining technique which resulted in George Floyd’s death.
However, several passersby were caught off-guard by the incident, and, being alarmed at what they were witnessing, took out their phones and started filming. On a video that went viral on Facebook, a white male police officer is seen pinning Floyd to the concrete ground and applying pressure to his neck with his knees while Floyd pleaded that he couldn’t breathe.
The onlookers were heard telling the police officer to release and a white woman even rushed to the police officer, but he pulled out pepper spray and threatened her, so she backed off.
What’s confusing is how an ambulance with paramedics arrived so promptly on the scene as though they were expecting the death of the victim.
Meanwhile, as America erupts in protests and riots, and whites join in the “black lives matter” parade, Donald Trump has alerted the military and threatened to use force. Is this whole scenario perhaps part of an elaborate plot to make America white again? From the surface, it would seem so, but after nearly 300 years of coexisting, such a prospect seems nearly impossible.
On the flip side, the black community is being criticized for showing their ignorance or “true colors” in destroying ATMs, burning buildings and looting store.
