Of all European countries, Italy has been hit hardest by the coronavirus, although no one has a plausible explanation as to why that happened. The least we can say it is that it was a matter of chance.
On Thursday, March 19th 2020 at 6:00 PM, the Italian Health Ministry has confirmed with this publication that the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases stood at 33190, and the total number of persons who died from the infection was 3405. That demonstrates that in Italy, an estimated 10% of persons who contracted the virus has died from it – giving it a mortality rate of 10%. The Health Ministry also confirmed that 4440 Italians were cured of the virus.
Meanwhile, Brazil has today (19 March) reported a total of 428 confirmed cases, 4 deaths and has closed borders with 8 out 9 neighboring countries.
