On Thursday, 22nd August, 2019, the government of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela expressed concern about the burning of the Amazon, and offered aid to Brazil and Bolivia to control the fire.

“Venezuela expresses its deep concern about those who devastate the Amazon region in the territory of several South American countries, with very serious impacts on the population, ecosystems and biological diversity of the area,” said the Ministry in a statement.

The Venezuelan Government expressed solidarity with the indigenous communities that live in the Amazon rainforest, in particular.

“Considering the South American brotherhood and as a member of the Amazon community, Venezuela offers its modest help that can serve to soften this painful tragedy, with immediate character,” wrote the ministry, which called for caution with the Amazon.
