Last updated: September 17, 2019 at 22:25 pmTrump has said that John Bolton was “too soft” on Venezuela and that John Bolton was “holding him back” on Venezuela. Sounds like a pit bull ready to break free from its chain.
Earlier this year, John Bolton had pulled a stunt to try to get the Venezuelan military to cross over to Maduro. This included sending humanitarian aid trucks which Maduro blocked and allegedly set fire to. It didn’t work. Everyone could see right through it.
Donald Trump seems to have a brighter idea. Let’s set Venezuela at war with Colombia and cry foul. Venezuela is disturbing the peace of the entire region. Let’s invoke the Rio Treaty against Maduro and let’s all go to war with Venezuela. “If your neighbor’s house is on fire, would you sit there and do nothing?”
Right now, all it takes is one bullet to cross over from one border to the other for the Rio Treaty to be triggered and member states, backed by Washingon, move in for the kill.
But, it has been nearly one week since Maduro sent 150,000 soldiers to the border with Colombia and not one bullet has been fired. In the name of peace, thank God! It’s nothing more than a “fowl-cock fight.”
As Mr. Trump would say, “It’s impossible. It’s not going to work.” And some hand gestures.
The only question left is: what now? Any other bright ideas Mr. President?
