At the foot of the Statue of Liberty, in Liberty Island, Manhattan, New York Harbour, New York, United States, The New Colossus reads:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Observe carefully the words in bold. Those are the words which America once represented:

Mother of exiles. Throughout the ages, many have sought refuge on America’s shore. In fact, the United States of America itself was formed by exiles fleeing religious and other forms of persecution; and ardent youths “hurting from lack of employment.”

World Wide Welcome. Throughout the centuries, millions have made a better life for themselves and their families in America which gave it the reputation of the “land of opportunity.”

Give me your tired, your poor… America has provided not just food and shelter, but employment, careers and upward social mobility that was greatly lacking in other parts of the world. In the 19th century, there were placards everywhere that read “Help Wanted,” and America was built by not one, but by scores of nations.

The United States was colonized by Britain, but America was not built only by the descendants of the British: the sweat of Germans, French, Portuguese, Africans, East Indians and many others enriched the soil of the United States.

But today is a sad day for America: a day which showcases how watered-down, weak and visionless the leaders of America have become, as MSN reports:

“People come into our country illegally, we’re taking them out legally. It’s very simple,” Trump told reporters Friday. “It’s not something I like doing.” Read Story…

Donald Trump should ask himself if he is not there illegally since the Native Indians are the First People of America. He should start by deporting himself and his family.

Today, the Statue of Liberty on New York Harbor cries tears of blood, and the world cries out for a new America. Who will answer the call?
