President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has indicated that he has no intention of taking the COVID-19 vaccine which is scheduled to commence administration across Brazil early February, 2021.

According to the former Army General, the terms and conditions set out by the makers of the vaccine are too loose and protective of the vaccine companies. All vaccine manufacturers has stated in their Terms and Conditions that the company is not responsible for any loss, damages, deaths, side effects or adverse effects which may be as a result of taking the vaccine.

“That means that if a man turns into a crocodile, or a woman grows beard, no one can hold the company accountable for it,” President Bolsonaro said.

Further, the president said that since he had already contracted the COVID-19 virus in the past, he has developed antibodies to fight it, so a vaccine is not necessary.

“Some people say I’m giving a bad example. But to the imbeciles, to the idiots that say this, I tell them I’ve already caught the virus, I have the antibodies, so why get vaccinated?”

In July 2020, President Bolsonaro had tested positive for COVID-19 after displaying symptoms of the virus and after months of downplaying the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. He took 3 weeks to recover and used the opportunity to boast of the efficacy of his recommended COVID-19 drug: hydroxycloroquine – a drug that has been reported to produce dangerous side effects including heart attacks.
