What Happened

A level 4 volcano has erupted in the Philippines prompting the evacuation of at least 8000 people. The volcano generated ash plumes 6 to 9 miles above the crater.

When It Happened

The eruptions took place on Sunday, January 12, 2020. We are not sure of the exact hour, but we will update this article once that information becomes available.

Where It Happened

The eruptions took place about 37 miles south of Manilla in the Calabarzon Region of the Philippines.

It is estimated that 43,436 people, 8,196 households and $113 million (USD) of infrastructure are within a six miles radius of the eruption. Minor earthquakes were also reported by the Media.
