Nineteen years old Erica Neves committed suicide in November 2019.
In a tragic turn of events, the death of a teenage girl has left the peaceful community of “Governador Newton Bello” in the state of Maranhão, Brazil in shock and mourning.
In a heart-wrenching suicide note, 19 years old Erica Neves revealed that she decided to take her own life since she could not continue to live with the pain inflicted on her by her own parents.

According to WhatsApp messages disclosed by the young woman, she was being raped by her father since she was 15, and her mother, who knew about the act, was condoning it and defending the criminal father.
I was raped by the man who was supposed to protect and care for me. I was forced to kiss him until it killed me inside. And what’s more, I was hated, criticized and ignored by my own family when they heard the story. In the chilling, sadistic Whatsapp Message thread pictured above, which was revealed by the victim, the father is saying: – Hi Hi – I was talking to your uncles yesterday. – And it’s ugly for you. – It’s better you die…hahaha. – They are with me. – You are alone. – Everyone pities you. – How do you live with yourself? – Don’t you see that no one likes you? – No one in your family and no one outside. – I pity you. – You’re going to live alone. – I’ll only be happy when you die. – No one will miss you. – No one loves you.
The young girl disclosed through WhatsApp messages shared with her mother that her mother said to her, “your father did nothing wrong. You’re a girl.”
Shortly after the girl’s death, police arrested and charged 46 years old Edmar Cavalcante Neves and 40 years old Rosinete Lima Neves.

Correction:
This article initially stated that the young girl committed suicide and then her parents were arrested. However, we were updated by a Brazilian news station that the girl, after having sought refuge with a family who adopted and sheltered her, decided to reveal the matter to the police in order to obtain justice. The parents were then arrested and charged. However, they were later released “for lack of evidence and pending further investigation.” It was after Erica saw that her parents who committed the crime against her was set free by police that she committed suicide. The parents were arrested again after the girl committed suicide.
The above message, which is not necessarily a suicide note, but an explanation of what was going on in her life, was written by Erica Neves before she killed herself. I had never before addressed this situation because I wanted to save my brothers who did not know of anything that went on in our house. Now that my parents, Rosinete and Edmar are trying to manipulate the story to the point of making themselves look innocent, I am forced to do this. They are trying to blame people who rescued and helped me. Now I have no alternative but to expose something that for me is very humiliating, very painful and that I do not wish on another human being, not even an enemy, which by the way, I have no enemies, and I do not even consider my own parents who did this to me to be my enemies. Sadly, it has reached the point where it is necessary for me to address in some form or shape, and I’m not going to report, take to court, or doing anything of that nature with them, however, I at least want people to know the truth of what happened.
