Russia has today, Wednesday, 4th of September, 2019 put its military on “high alert” as it accused the United States’ government of secret plots and conspiracies with neighboring Columbia aimed at overthrowing the Maduro Regime.

“Apparently, the United States, having become convinced of the failure of displacing the legitimate Venezuelan authority by force, is trying to put together a new strategy to ‘restore democracy’ in this state. Now this slogan is being used to justify the creation of a parallel government in violation of all the norms of a law-based state.” – Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

Back in Venezuela, Maduro has issued an “Orange Alert” over tensions with Columbia and mobilized troops towards the border with Columbia. Venezuelan troops are expected to arrive at the border with Columbia around the 10th of September, 2019.

The Columbian President, Ivan Duque, has responded by saying that he is “ready to defend Columbia’s sovereignty.”

Maduro has also accused the Columbian President of plotting with the US government to overthrow his regime.

Earlier this year, an attempt by the United States to carry out a military operation against Maduro came to a stalemate after Brazil refused to allow US troops into the state of Roraima. Neighboring Guyana had also signaled an unwillingness to support a military operation against Maduro.
