Following intensified military exercises by the US Armed forces in the Caribbean Sea close to Venezuela, and the indictment of Maduro by the United States for narco terrorism, Nicolas Maduro has released an open letter addressed to all citizens of the United States.
In the letter, dated 3rd of April 2020, the Bolivarian Chavista both appealed for peace while warning the United States of dire consequences if it attacks Venezuela.
“I ask you, with your heart in your hands, not to allow your country to be drawn once again into another endless conflict, another Vietnam or another Iraq…” Maduro said, warning of bloody retaliation from the Venezuelan military if the United States oversteps its boundaries.
A recent video, released by Venezuelan Media, shows deployment of military equipment and soldiers to different corners of Venezuela as well as military drills allegedly in preparation for a confrontation with the US military.
In the video, Maduro is heard calling Donald Trump a “madman” for thinking he can invade Venezuela without consequences.
“He is a madman – Donald Trump – to think he is going to send his army to this land which can defend itself…because Venezuela has men and women who, in any circumstance, would come to confront these terrorist acts.”

In the letter, Maduro referred to Trump’s accusations of narco-terrorism as a “pretext for war” and noted that the United States has made the largest military deployment in the Region in 30 years – which could result in an “expensive, bloody and indefinite war.”
