Is the world on the brink of World War 3? It would seem so. Even though it is something that would prove ultimately disastrous for human lives, some of the most powerful people are playing dangerous games with the world we live it. And it could explode at any time.

Indeed, the world is already bitterly divided. From the Middle East to the South American Continent and even as far as East Asia, there are tensions, threats and devastating wars.

Frankly speaking, the idea of World War 3 is a bit of an outlandish idea because humans are thought to be more cautious and civilized than we were a hundred years ago. And more so, because we cannot afford a World War 3. World War 3 would ultimately mean the beginning of human suffering and the end of human life on earth.

But then again, who knows? The human species has shown unparalleled abilities for staying alive and adapting under the most hazardous circumstances. Look at what we did the last time. In my book, “Splitting the Atom: the Human Will to Stay Alive,” I described how the humans did the impossible when mankind’s back was against the wall. The atom was once called “indivisible,” but in the name of winning a war and staying alive, when mankind’s back was against the wall – the humans split the atom – giving birth to the atomic bomb which was dropped in Japan and ultimately put an end to the second World War.

But while the atomic bomb may have put an end to the Second War World, it may very well be the beginning and the end of the Third World War. And with the stockpiles and stockpiles of nuclear weapons in the arsenal of so many countries, the very thought of a third World War is distasteful at least and sends shivers down the spine at most.

So what could trigger a third World War? And what would happen if a third World War actually breaks? The startling truth is that a third World War has already started. We have enough divisions, tensions and alliances in the world to safely (or unsafely?) say that a third World World is already in the making, or has already begun. But it’s a cold war. And God forbid that it should ever gain heat.

But who would have imagined that the third world war might be fought over a small country like Venezuela and 300,000 million barrels of oil? Three hundred thousand million barrels of oil that would go up in smokes in no time flat in the face of a nuclear war!

Presently, Colombia and Venezuela are at a standoff. It seems like the United States has already managed to seduce Colombia into its bed of deceit and destruction. Colombia has already stirred up strife with Venezuela and there is a big military showdown at the border. But so far, it has been a cold war – with each country carrying out military exercises and no shots fired.

But the United States is “locked and ready,” or as Donald would put it “cocked and ready” to attack Venezuela the moment the first cross-border shot is fired. And this could ultimately trigger a catastrophic war.

The member states of the Rio Treaty has already signed an agreement to unite against Venezuela in the event that the tensions at the border escalates into a war. But all of this is happening under Russia’s watchful eyes.

In short, if the Colombian military is stupid enough to encourage a military invasion of Venezuela, here are the forces that would back the US in toppling Maduro: The United Nations and all members of the Rio Treaty.

And here are some of the countries that would most likely take up arms against the western alliance: China and Russia.

While the United Nations and its allies are a force to be reckoned with, and the United States has the world’s most powerful military, a fight against Russia and China would make them one cooked goose…and the world with it.

Here is what the commander in chief of the US military is hoping: that the member states of the Rio Treaty will back the United States and Columbia in toppling Maduro while Russia and China will sit back and do nothing.

And frankly speaking, that’s a stupid risk to take. It’s like playing Russian Roulette, but not just with Donald Trump’s head (which would not be a problem) but with the planet earth.
