Every single day, there are stories in the news of human disaster. Sadly, people die every day. Danger exists all around us, and we need not only strength, discernment, and wisdom, but divine protection to survive.
In 2013, I made a daring trip to Rondonopolis, Mato Grosso, Brazil, under some compromising circumstances. I was received by some beautiful Brazilian strangers who did everything they good to help me settle in. Two of these were Paulo and Jerry, both English teachers in Brazil.
But on the first week I landed, these two good friends, Paulo and Jerry, stopped being friends. Paulo told a story about how he was almost killed because of a setup which he believed Jerry was responsible for. Jerry denied it. But whether Jerry did it or not, someone put Paulo’s life in grave danger, and it had to have been someone close to him.
Paulo is good man: a smart intellectual fluent in both Portuguese and English, and to think that someone would do this to him is truly troubling. But the great news is that God was on his side. Not only did Paulo survive the trap, but he’s still alive and well 15 years later.
We live in a dangerous world and constantly need divine protection. Stay close to God and our savior Jesus Christ. That way, even if you die, yet shall you live.
