The Golden Rule

Gold is a precious metal. It has absolute value. The strength of a currency can be measured against gold. You’ve probably heard that “all that glitters is not gold.”

Jesus, when He walked on earth, used gold as a metaphor to describe one of the laws God created to rule the universe: Do unto others as you would that they should do unto you. For this is the “golden” rule. The rule is golden because it possesses absolute value. In fact, Jesus further clarifies that “by what mete you measure shall be measured back unto you.”

Don’t we see this law in effect every day? This is one of the many laws of “cause and effect” which God created to govern us. Sadly, many Christians do not believe in the law of cause and effect. They say it is pagan in origin because it approximates the Eastern law of “karma.” But regardless of where else in the world something was observed or written down, it is true if it comes from the mouth of God.
