Saving a House from Fire

I remember one time I helped save a house from going up in flames. It was a two storey part wooden and part concrete house. The year was around 2009. I was rounding a corner with a car when to my right, about 500 feet away, I saw angry flames leaping from the bottom part of the house. I pulled down to the corner and parked the car. Within seconds, the flames grew about three times bigger. Then an old woman fell on the ground in fear and panic and started screaming. I got out of the car and ran towards the house. Another man ran in front of me.

I looked into the opposite yard and saw a bucket. I jumped over the locked gate, threw the bucket out of the yard, and jumped over the gate again. I grabbed the bucket, ran over to the burning house, and dipped some water from the drain in front of the house. Then I ran into the yard and threw the water on the flames. The water did almost nothing to the flames and the heat scared me.

I ran out back and this time I dug the bucket full of mud from the drain, ran back in and dashed the mud on the fire. About three buckets of mud and the fire was smothered within seconds.

If you see a house on fire, use mud, not water, wherever possible.
