If you’re going through something a bit distressing right now, you may take comfort in the thought that “seasons change.” Things are hardly ever the same. In fact, the only constant in life is change.

You’ve probably heard the song which includes the lyrics, “seasons change, feelings change…people change.” And you’ve probably sung along with this song without ever pondering the profound truth hidden within those words. And if you look back into your life, as I can mine, you, like me, can probably trace the truth in these words: seasons, feelings and people change.

The fact that people, season and feelings change is probably the explanation for so many failed marriages and romantic relationships. What you search for in a romantic partner today might not be the same that you will admire 1 or 2 years from today. And this is the reason why so many arms run cold – the flame that once ignited no longer does.

A child may be bold at a younger age, but at a later age in life become very shy. And likewise, a child may be shy and later become bold.

But changes are not only limited to characteristics in humans. They also apply to likes or dislikes. The kind of food or music you like today might not be the same a few years from now. And the qualities you admire in people might also change.

People do change – that is, their beliefs and convictions about life change, and their feelings about various things change, but seasons also change. You may enter into a city, for example, with lots of partying and nighttime activities. But a few years later, it turns into a completely different environment.

Because of the fact that people change, it may be unwise to judge a person by their present characteristic. Because of the fact that seasons change, you must remember to “make hay while the sun shines” and store up your goods for dry seasons which are to come. On the same note, you may take comfort in the fact that you can get through distressing times since brighter days are straight ahead – just keep working and trusting God.

Because of the fact that feelings change, you can rest assured that all things are possible since the sentiments that are going around now, won’t be around forever. You must be braced for the possibility that a person who sees eye to eye with you today, might have different thoughts tomorrow.

By understanding the law of changes in your environment, you become better equipped to handle situations which may be affected by changes.
