deal photoIn the colloquial languages of some countries, a “raw deal” is a deal, bargain or transaction in which one person gains and one loses. It is opposed to a win-win deal. In other words, we can say that a “raw deal” is a win-lose deal.

A raw deal involves crookery, deceit and selfishness. It involves one person acting cunningly to get the most of another, to rip off another or to otherwise deceive another. Our world is rife with liars, thieves, con men robbers and drug dealers.

And it’s the last one mentioned above that I’d like to address. The laws of most countries make drug dealing illegal, and it makes drug dealers criminals. But how does the laws of God judge people who peddle, sell or otherwise push drugs? Many drug dealers end up in prison. Many others are killed in gang-related violence, but a few of them make it to top and become rich.

The bible gives us clear evidence that pushing drugs is an abominable act in the sight of God. First of all, the bible tells us that, when trading with others, we must give something of value when collecting money. The bible warns us that if we do a raw deal, it will be measured back to us. And God’s words never fail. What do drug dealers sell? And what do they exchange with others for money? Do they sell something that makes the body stronger and the mind sharper? No. Drug deals exchange a dangerous substance which provides temporary pleasures and permanent damage for a ridiculously high amount of money. That’s the ultimate raw deal! How can someone have the heart to do something like that! In Proverbs 20:10, the bible warns us that dishonest scales and dishonest measures are both an “abomination” to the Lord. And the selling of drugs is definitely a dishonest measure!

Needless to say, most drug dealers are “heartless” and don’t believe in God. Nevertheless, they will have to answer to Him – whether they believe it or not! The bible warns that “for by what mete you measure, the same shall be measured back to you.” So drug dealers can rest assured (or disturbed?) that their ill gotten gains will “make wings and fly away towards heaven.”

Has someone enticed you into the drug trade? Say no to drugs, and the drug trade. Look to God for an honest dollar and He will give it to you. Look within you for the talent that God has given to you, and use it earn a living. Hone your skills everyday and make it better. Improve your trade, and let all your customers leave happy and satisfied. Remember, the bible warns us that “ill gotten treasures profit nothing.”
