Present Time Verbs

Yes, you read that right, and no, I didn’t mean Present “Tense” Verbs. I mean “present time verbs.” That is because there are two types of present tense verbs. Both of these verbs describe actions that “happen” or “are happening” in the present time.

They are:

  1. The Simple Present Tense
  2. The Present Continuous Tense also called the Present Progressive Tense.

We’ll delve into more details about these two present time verbs in the future, but for now, let’s sum it by saying that the simple present tense describes facts and daily habits while the present continuous tense describes an action that is happening and it likely to continue into an indefinite time into the future.

Here are some examples:

The sky is blue. (Simple Present)

The rain is falling. (Present Continuous)

I go to school everyday. (Simple Present)

She is going to school now. (Present Continuous)
