*****************************************************The first problem is using “them” to refer to a singular noun “someone.” In English, there is a big debate going on right now as to whether this is acceptable. That is because there is no gender-neutral pronoun in English and saying “him or her” is wordy and cumbersome. Previously, it was recommended to use the male pronoun “him” when the gender of the person is not clear, but this is often considered offensive, sexist and also inadequate. I can reconstruct the sentence to solve the problem. Example: You may say “goodbye, have a good day” or “goodbye have a great day” when parting company with someone anytime during the day.
