When Mary was about to give birth to Jesus, she and her husband, Joseph, were traveling. As the pains of labor gripped her, there was no room available, only a stable. Yes, a stable where animals were kept! And that’s where the Son of God was birthed!
Just imagine that! The Son of the Most High God, Who owns all the gold, silver, diamond, and precious rubies of the world! The Creator of the earth, the stars, the moon and all there is in the universe! And His only begotten Son could not be afforded a proper room at birth!
The story of Jesus’ birth may very well be a symbolic life lesson. What can we learn from it? What can we deduce? Jesus didn’t just suffer this mild inconvenience at birth. It went much further. Despite feeding 5 thousand with 5 loaves of bread, raising the dead, making the blind to see, and doing all sorts of wonders and miracles, He was delivered into the hands of sinful during the Hour of Darkness. Jesus was beaten, humiliated, and nailed to the cross for the sins of mankind. But after His resurrection, all power and authority was given to Him in heaven and in earth.
Jesus’ birth, life, and resurrection may be symbolic of many of life’s lessons, and may embody many truths. Perhaps it goes to show that our beginning doesn’t have to define our end. We can start in simplicity or poverty, and through faith and obedience to God, rise to great glory. Perhaps it goes to show that when we endure great pains and hardships for the sake of God, He rewards us with something greater than we can imagine.
How many people do you know, who, like Jesus, had a humble beginning, but rose to great glory and honor? Let Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection be a gentle reminder that you can rise and overcome any circumstance in the mighty Name of Jesus!
