I Have Never Seen the Righteous Forsaken

In my article, God’s mathematics, I wrote about a widow who cried out to the prophet Elisha for help when creditors came to take her sons away.

But what I didn’t mention was that she said “you know that my husband was a man of God!”

The prophet Elisha agreed that her husband was a man of God. Now creditors are coming to take away the sons of the servant of God. They are coming to take the boys captive as slaves. Would God allow this?

The situation reminded me of the words of David “I was young and now I am old, and I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread”.

Is there any length that God would not go to protect and provide for his children?

Of course not! As the bible says, “There is no wisdom, nor counsel nor understanding against the Lord”. And we know that God has power over all laws in heaven and in earth.

Who were these simpletons who thought they had the right to take as captives the sons of a servant of God? What calculations did they use to determine that money was owed to them? They may be right in the eyes of man, but they are yet to learn about God’s mathematics.
