Don’t Be the Reason Someone Turns Away from Jesus

A lot of people go by the banner of Christianity but blaspheme the very name of Jesus. They do not live by the commandments or teachings of Jesus, thus casting a bad light on Christianity. Millions of people all around the world today have an aversion to Christianity because people who “branded themselves Christians” practiced slavery. These were not true Christians but those who blasphemed the name of Christ.

A man who identifies of Christian and goes to church abuses his wife for years. What does she learn? She learns (incorrectly) that Christianity is a false religion and that the spirit of God is not in the hearts of those who accept Christ. What she doesn’t realize is that her husband actually a true Christian. She leaves him and tries finding God in another faith, having lost her faith in Christianity because it seems like a failed religion.

A man does not adequately provide for his children but uses the name of Jesus frequently. What do those children learn? That Christianity is a failed religion or a false religion. It isn’t. It’s just that anyone, even the devil, can say “Jesus saves,” because it’s the truth, but not all those who say “Lord Lord” will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but those who do the will of the Father.

God places heavy weight on those who cause others to look down on His religion. When David took the wife of Uriah and committed adultery with her, God punished David primary because he gave the heathens grounds to blaspheme. In other words, he painted a negative picture of the true religion.

As Christians, God calls us to let our lights shine that others may see it and believe. If you are not living by the teachings or the commandments of Christ, do not brand yourself a Christian, and do not use the name of Jesus in vain. For God will not consider him blameless who uses His name in vain.
