Storing Your Treasures In Heaven

Storing your treasures….

If you asked me how much money I have in the bank, I might say “not much”. But if you asked me how much money I have in heaven, I might say “an awful lot”. This is because God owns all the treasures in the world. And when you follow His commandments, you become a child of God. Of course, there is nothing wrong for Christians to have a lot of money in the bank. I have had from time to time, quite a lot of money in the bank. And I don’t doubt that I may sometime again hold a lot of earthly wealth. After all, my Father in heaven is the possessor of all the earth. But that’s another story altogether.

When Jesus walked with humans on earth, He instructed us to store our treasures in heaven rather than on earth, because on earth they rust and are stolen and robbed from us. This makes perfect sense, after all, no matter how rich we are, humans grow old, feeble and eventually die.

So how exactly do we store our treasures up in heaven? It is simple. Every time we help someone genuinely in need (not someone trying to rob us, trick us, exploit us or otherwise deceive us), we store a jewel up in heaven.

Giving financial assistance to God’s kingdom (the evangelical church) is also a perfect way to store your treasures up in heaven.
