This morning, a man came to me with an unusual problem. A video he had downloaded from the internet was playing no sound. But on the site which he downloaded it from, the sound was good.

I checked the videos and verified the case, but this baffled me. All the speaker settings were OK. After all, it had to be, since sound was coming from the website.

Additionally, some videos just weren’t opening. Neither the cause of the problem nor the solution to this problem was obvious. I was about to refer the case to a more experienced technician when I decided one last thing: restart the computer.

It worked like a charm. Restarting a computer fixes little bug issues and “corruption” within the operating system. Although restarting may not always work like a charm, for obvious reasons, it does clear up a lot of issues.

The next time something isn’t banging up on your PC for no obvious reason, try restarting it.
