Installing, testing and deleting WordPress plugins will be a crucial part of your growth as a WordPress Web Developer.
Some plugins just don’t live up to expectations. And at other times, we just have to try out other plugins of a similar nature to see if they offer better features.
I’ve tested the “Slide Anything” plugin. At first, it seemed like a great plugin, but in the end, it lacked certain critical features. For example, it didn’t give the option of adding a neat “Caption” to the slides.
For this and several other reasons, I’m going to uninstall this plugin and search for another that can do the job I want.
After we delete the Slide Anything Plugins, we’ll try a similar plugin called “Smart Slider 3.”
So let’s do this.
First I log into the WordPress Dashboard:
- I type in: hotelamazonasgy.com
- Enter username and password
- Click the “Login” button
Now I’m inside my WordPress Dashboard. I click My Sites >> Network Admin >> Plugins.
This lands me in the Plugins Dashboard, and I can see the Slide Anything Plugin right there.
And what is the first thing we do when deleting a plugin? That’s right! Network Deactivate it. So I’ll click on that handy “Network Deactive” button highlighted in yellow above, and here’s what happen.
The plugin is deactivated from the network and the “Delete” button appears. I click the Delete Button, and a dialog box pops up which asks me if I am sure I would like to delete this plugin.
I click “OK,” and the plugin is gone.
So the next step is to install the new plugin which is called Smart Slider 3.
So let’s scroll to the top of the page where the “Add New” plugin is located.
Click the Add New Button and we’re in the WordPress Plugin’s Repository.
See you in the next Lesson: Installing and Activating Smart Slider 3.
