Removing the “Back to Top” Button

Last updated: August 17, 2018 at 14:03 pm

As you can see in the above screenshot, this WordPress Template comes outfitted with a “handy” Back to Top Button option.

Thank God it’s an option! Because for a site like this, it’s pretty much useless! It’s not like this website has pages ten thousand words long! With a simple scroll of the mouse or a drag of the sidebar, the user arrives at the top.

So let’s go ahead and remove this button.

I’ll login into my WordPress Dashboard:

  1. Type in: www.hotelamazonasgy.com/wp-admin

2. Enter username and password.

3. Click on Log In.

Next, I’ll click on “Appearance >> Customize.”

Then I’ll look for the Scroll to Top Button option highlighted above. I click it to expand it and it looks the following screen:

As you can see, the Scroll to Top Button is set to “Right.” I’ll just click that handy down arrow highlighted above and select “None.”

Then, I hit the Publish Button and my changes will be saved. Let’s refresh the page on the other browser and take a look at it.

As you can see, that button is now gone!

So, with a few customization steps, we’ve removed an unwanted item. Let’s move to the next lesson: Adding a top bar slider.
