The Best Text Editor

code photoWhen it comes to web development, the question often comes up “which is the best text editor for hand coding?”

Well, I’ll tell you a little story; and this goes back to the good old days of when I use to code my very first webpages in the most basic (you guessed it) HTML coding language. Or should I say “the famed HTML”?

I can still remember the magic of it all: of spinning out the first few lines of code and turning it into an HTML webpage.

And what is the text editor I started with? The most basic of all: notepad. It got the job done. Or at least, the little that I needed to get done at that point.

But what is the recommended text editor today for the ambitious web developer? There are so many, both free and paid.

Personally, I’d say that notepad++ is just good enough for the average web developer. It’s feature rich and FREE.

But remember that notepad++ will not work on Mac or Linux computers. It’s a windows based software.

If  you’re running Mac or Linux, you do have some really good alternatives. And my personal recommendation is Sublime Text. You can download Sublime Text at
