Inserting a Smart Slider into our Homepage

Last updated: August 23, 2018 at 17:41 pm

So we’ve just created a slider using the Smart Slider 3 Plugin. Let’s go ahead and insert that slider into our website’s homepage.

First step is to log into our Dashboard:

  1. Type: www.hotelamazonasgy.com/wp-admin
  2. Enter username and password.
  3. Click “Login.”

Once inside the Dashboard, look for the “Smart Slider” button in the the left hand column menu.

Click on it. This will load the Smart Slider Dashboard.

Now scroll down towards the button and look for the slider we just created.

Hover your mouse over it, and the “Edit” button will appear. A new screen will load. Scroll down a little, and you will see the shortcode under the “Publish” button.

That’s the shortcode highlighted above that you need to paste into the widget area to run the slider. Let’s take a closer look.

That’s it highlighted in blue above there. I’ll just select it, right click and copy.

Now, let’s head over to the widgets area to paste this shortcode where it belongs.

I’ll click on “Appearance >> Widgets.” This will load the widgets screen. I’ll look for the Homepage, Top Sidebar widget area, and click the down arrow to expand it.

There you go! As you can see, it already has the Text Widget inside. And I’ll just click the “down arrow” to open the Text Widget.

And as you can see, the text widget already has a shortcode in there which is the shortcode we had pasted when we created the previous slider using the Slide Anything Plugin.

So I’ll delete shortcode and paste the new shortcode for our present slider.

Great. Let’s click the save button, and then pull a new browser and load our website to see the slider in action.

Wow! It looks and is working awesome! The next step is do some some adjustments and add some features such as text, caption, read more buttons, etc. And all this can be done from the Smart Slider Dashboard.

I guess you’re smart and experienced enough by now to go about tweaking settings, playing with layers etc and experimenting on your own, so see you in the next lesson!
