Ten Solid Reasons Not to Use Google Adsense

If you look towards the top of this page, you may see Google Adsense Ads. So you’re reading from someone with experience. Ten years plus of experience that is! And I should add…10 years of negative experience with Google Adsense.

So why am I still running Google Adsense Ads on my website? As I mentioned in a previous article, it’s probably because “a dirty habit is like a comfortable bed.” In the last ten to fifteen years that I’ve been using Google Adsense, I’ve sent away thousands, probably millions, of my website visitors to other sites, perhaps rival sites, for less than a dime a dozen.

And how much money have I made? Literally, a few dollars. Not enough to pay web hosting!

So what’s all this hype about making money with Google Adsense? It’s a bunch of crap. Let’s cut to the chase. Here are ten good reasons not to run Google Adsense Ads on your website:

  1. It makes you look cheap. When visitors see Google Adsense Ads on a website, it signals that it’s a cheap site with a webmaster who’s hungry for a quick buck.
  2. It pays very little. Turns out you have to have millions of unique visitors per month to make a monthly income of about 100 USD!
  3. It steals your website visitors! Yes, your website visitors click an Adsense ad and goes away – perhaps never to return.
  4. It doesn’t brand your company, product, or website! But it sure brands Google and the advertisers that pay for the ads.
  5. Google, the ad broker, takes the biggest slice of the pie from the advertising revenue while leaving both you and the advertiser high and dry.

OK! So that’s not exactly ten reasons! But it’s still solid enough to hold the title. As a bonus, I’ll give you some suggestions for what to use instead of Google Adsense.

  1. Negotiate directly with potential advertisers for a better revenue.
  2. Put up an email capture form instead of Adsense ads and build a mailing list.
  3. Sell a book that is branded with your URL so that visitors will come back to you.
  4. Sell a product that brands your company, brings in greater profit, and reminds visitors to return.
  5. Link to your social media pages or a Clickbank Product!

So there you go! It’s time to give this Google Adsense Rip Off the boot!

P.S.: You’ll never get rich from Google Adsense!
