As Christians, we can draw strength from the Bible Story of God taking the Jews through the wilderness to the promised land. And that alone answers the question posed in the title of this article: God sometimes takes His people through difficult times to land them into eternal glory.
But it doesn’t stop there. God takes us through the wilderness to show us that he can bring water from a rock, part the sea, and send food from heaven. Yes, you read that right. Our God is a God who is “wanting to make His power known.” If you have been doing everything right and you’re still going through difficult times, you might question the reality of things. You might wonder why those who engage in corrupt acts seem to get by so much better than you, while you are out here struggling and doing everything right. Remember the word of God, “do not envy the oppressor, nor desire to be like him.” And remember the verse, “I have seen the wicked arising, and spreading himself like a green bay tree, but I returned and I could not find him.” With mathematical certainty, those who “prosper” through ungodliness will eventually reap the corruption they have sown. But those who go through difficult times in righteousness have God walking with them every step of the way. And what greater gift is there than to have the Almighty God, creator of heaven and of earth, walking by your side?
