Every day, people around the world come home distraught. They were fired, by their boss or employer. While I personally have never been fired by a human, there may have been a time when I was “fired by God.” Does that sound harsh? It’s probably not.
I wrote a long explainer, which I will share with you later, of why I sold the Guyana, South America publication. I lost my spot as Editor in Chief of one of my country’s farthest reaching publications. And because circumstances compelled me to sell the publication, I felt like I was fired by God. It was a painful decision and one that brought tears to my eyes. Letting go of something so valuable and treasured wasn’t easy. This was a publication focusing on news, commentaries, and articles related to the country of Guyana which I built from the ground up with my own hands, human ingenuity, and the help of God. However, in 2025, I found myself constrained to accept an offer to sell it for 25,000 USD dollars.
I needed the money, and it served me well. But I suffered from withdrawal symptoms. I missed posting content and looking at the thousands of reactions, shares, and comments. I missed being the center of attention. One month later, on a particular Tuesday, I was feeling particularly down about it. I was especially missing writing on this platform when the photo below popped up on my Facebook Timeline:
Indeed, the Guyana, South America publication was a great project, but I had other projects that needed my attention. Letting go of the Guyana, South America publication did free me up to work on other projects. And that photo above was another message from God at a time when I needed it most, a gentle reminder and a warm comfort, that, as the song goes, “your ways are always higher; your plans are always good…when you don’t part the waters I wish I coulda walk through…I will trust, I will trust…I will trust in You.”
