The Golden Rule

When Jesus walked on earth, He gave us a golden rule to live by: do unto others as you would have them to do you. This rule is golden because it solves many problems and sets the stage for heaven on earth. Imagine a world where everyone treats each other the way they wish to be treated themselves. This rule is backed up by the greatest commandment: love one another as Christ has loved you. For greater love hath not a man than to lay down his life for another.

You’ve probably heard the saying, “all that glitters is not gold.” Well here is a rule that is golden because it contains divine truth that governs human behavior.

The idea is “karma” is simply human observation documented over thousands of years of the laws of cause and effect. People observed that when they do a good deed, it comes back to them in some shape or form. They also observe that when someone does someone evil to another, evil returns to the doer of evil. The bible reinforces this idea by the verse, “God is not mocked, but as a man sows, that also shall he reap.”

When God created the universe, he made many laws to govern it. These include the natural and scientific laws such as the law of gravity. But he also created the divine laws which govern human conduct. God holds us in line by these laws.

“Do unto others as you would them to do unto you.” Can you imagine a world where everyone lives by this “golden rule”?
