Sometimes, if you go to store and ask to buy a piece of rope, the seller might joke, “you’re not going to hang yourself, are you?” Suicide by hanging is a serious epidemic all around the world. When people feel overwhelmed by life, or at the end of their rope, they sometimes use a rope to take the easy way out. Or what they perceive to be the easy way out. And that’s tragic! There are so many better uses for a piece of rope.

Instead of ending your life, why not use a piece of rope to restart it? I hadn’t hit the gym in years. But do you know what? I gym is not essential to good health. It may be good, but it’s not essential. Have you tried wearing a heavy pair of boots and skipping? Skipping is one of the most life changing exercises that delivers brute force to the body. It might not make you as bulky as your counterparts at the gym, but you might be surprised to learn that you’re overall stronger.

Skipping for just a few minutes every day, depending on the speed and intensity, can tone up all muscles of your body, improve your breathing and blood circulation, and strengthen all your arteries. It’s a master exercise that requires the minimum of time and can be done in your own backyard with just five or ten minutes a day.

And what’s more, skipping has a tremendous impact on the mind. It relieves stress and calms the mind. Pushing your body physically releases chemicals that soothes the mind. The next time you grab a piece of rope, use it to restart your life, not end it.
