Maligning the Character of God

From studying the bible, there is no evidence that God takes pleasure in human suffering. When humans sin, God seeks either to correct them, or, failing that, “wipe them out” of existence.

The bible states that God’s anger lasts a little while, but His mercies endures forever.

Today, millions of people around the world perpetuate a lie about God which maligns the very character of God. Yes, God is fearsome and worthy of awe, and His wrath is sufficient for any one of us. But more than that, God is loving, kind and forgiving. He is God who creates life and happiness and overcomes darkness.

By saying that God has prepared an everlasting torment for humans “before the foundation of the earth,” some people are suggesting that God takes pleasure in human suffering, or worse yet, that God is a sadist. There is no evidence of this in the bible. In fact, the bible states clearly that “God is love.”
