Brazil is the largest country in the continent of South America. It is also the only Portuguese Speaking Country in South America. With a population of about 300 million, Brazil is also the most highly populated country in the continent of South America, and is the largest Roman Catholic Country in the continent of South America.
Brazil was originally a colony of Portugal, but gained independence in the year 1889.
Brazil shares borders with Uraguay to the south, Argentina and Paraguay to the southwest, Bolivia and Peru to the west, Columbia to the northwest, and Guyana, Venezuela, Suriname and French Guiana to the North.
The capital of Brazil is Brasilia.
