venezuela photoAt the time of this writing, 27th January, 2018, Venezuela is going through the worst political, economical and humanitarian crisis in its history. The communist regime led by Maduru is crumbling. There are constant and violent clashes between government forces and protesters. Food is running scare and so is medicine. The government won’t allow foreign aid to enter the country. Supermarket shelves are empty and people are fleeing the country by the millions. Venezuelans are fleeing to neighboring Brazil, Columbia and anywhere else they can seek refuge. The Brazilian government is granting refugee status to all Venezuelans entering Venezuela. Who knows what will be the future of Venezuela?

Nevertheless, I list here the facts of Venezuela prior to the crisis.

Venezuela is bordered by Guyana to the east, Columbia to the west, Brazil to the south, the Dutch Caribbean ABC Islands to the North and the islands of Trinidad and Tobago to the northeast.

The size of Venezuela is approximately 353,841 square miles and it has a population of about 31,000,000 people. Venezuela was once a colony of Spain but gained independence in the year 1811.
