When I watched a mother
Playing with her child
Her eyes lit up with love
Her arms embraced with care.
A love so true and pure
That asks nothing in return
That sacrifices everything
And demands nothing
He called her from the top of the stairs
Her eyes looked up and lit up
Her arms opened
As he entered a warm embrace
Then a gentle game
And a soft kiss
And yet another hug
With a love so true
And undefiled
When I watched a mother
Playing with her child
I understood why human life
Despite its pains and troubles
Will have to continue
