If you want to track someone’s location based on their phone number, you may be a naughty person. After all, why would you want to do something like that! Do you want to spy on your wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend? That certainly isn’t a wise thing to do! After all, what you don’t know can’t hurt you. Or do you want to kill someone so you’re searching for their location? That certainly isn’t a nice thing to do!
Relax, there are times when you might actually want to try to pinpoint a person’s exact location by using GPS technology to zero in on their cellphone. But can you actually do it? If you are a tech wiz, I guess the answer might be “yes.” But if you are the average Joe, you might need expert help.
But what expert help is actually out there? There are quite a few websites that claim that they can track a person’s location by using GPS technology to zero in on where the cellphone is. But does it really work? I cannot tell you about all of them, but I can tell you about one that’s absolute crap: celltrack.eu.
Before going any further, let me explain why we wanted to use this service, that is, why we wanted to track someone’s cellphone to find out where they were. And it’s a very good, non-malignant reason! A friend of mine was leaving the city of Barquismeto in the state of Lara in Venezuela, South America to travel to Boa Vista, Brazil. It was a long, perilous, three-day journey by road. On the second day of the trip, we lost contact with her. We assumed she might have been traveling on a no-signal zone or that her battery was dead. But when we didn’t hear from her on the third day, we became frantic.
That’s when I started to explore the possibility of tracking her cell phone. I knew that even if the cellphone was turned off or in a no-signal zone, we might still be able to track it. I explored both apps and websites. I found the website celltrack.eu which claimed it’s technology could track the location of cell phones. I signed up and bought ten US dollars’ credit.
I tried every aspect of their service: sms tracking, whatsapp, etc. And each time, it was complete bullshit. The service just doesn’t work. We later regained contact with the young lady, but I wanted to test the site further just to be sure. So I tried using their services to track some cellphones whose location I knew. At one instance, celltrack.eu told me that a cell phone was in New York. It even gave me a map. However, I knew that that cellphone was in Guyana, South America. In another instance, it told me that a cellphone which I knew as in Peru, was in Brazil. I tested the site several times and each time it turned up drastically wrong results.
Verdict: If you are looking to track a cellphone’s location, stay away from celltrack.eu.
