You’ve probably heard someone say “I’ve never done anything wrong to anyone.” And that’s a good policy to live by. The bible teaches us that “what we sow we shall reap” and that God rewards everyone according to his works. Furthermore, Jesus tells us that we should “do unto others as we would that they should unto us.” This is the “golden” rule. It is a rule that truly “shines” and has merits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doing good to others and not hurting others is a good thing and of God. But it does not complete your walk with God. The truth is, you don’t have to hurt anyone to sin. The most lethal sin was committed in the garden of Eden, and it didn’t involve hurting anyone! It was simply eating a fruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sin, then, is simply a disobedience to God. If we do something that God forbids, as was the case of Eve, or if we fail to do something that God commanded, we have sinned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other words, we must “do everything that the Lord commands us to do.” In our natural existence, we have a very weak sense of what is right from wrong. In addition, we are constantly being influenced by the devil, the enemy of mankind, who is like a roaring lion seeking as to whom he may devour, and who seeks to bring even more sin and suffering into the world. For this reason, we must constantly study the word of God to become more and more aware of what is forbidden and what is sanctioned by God. By knowing this, we can live a life that brings more of God’s favor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Jesus said to the devil in the wilderness, “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” And remember, you do not have to hurt anyone to sin!
