In fact, the two words are spelled and pronounced almost the same way. Almost, but not exactly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s take a look. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Portuguese word for grandmother is: Av\u00f3 (with an accent mark over the o)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Portuguese word for grandfather is: Av\u00f4 (with a circumflex over the o).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that&#8217;s it! Only an accent mark and a circumflex marks the difference between the spelling of grandmother and grandfather in Portuguese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what about pronunciation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, the two words are pronounced almost the same too.
