Kumu Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the Rupununi Savannas of Guyana. The falls is about 30 miles away from the town of Lethem. The town of Lethem is bordered by Bon Fim, Brazil to the south.
I decided to drive to Kumu Falls after some friends suggested the idea to me. I drove a Toyota motor car, but I must admit that it was not such a smart idea during the rainy season. Water-filled depressions in the sandy trail almost captured the car, and occasional uneven road surfaces threatened to run it into a “jacked-up” position. Luckily, I am a very experienced driver so I managed to steer the vehicle safely to its destination.
The vehicles most recommended for the trail to the Kumu Falls would be something like a four-wheeled drive van, a land cruiser or a “scrambler” type motorcycle.
There is a fee of GY$1000.00 per person charged by some administrators of the area to enter the vicinity of the falls. For children, the cost is $500.00
The falls gets bigger and more scenic the further up you go.
Now enjoy these beautiful pictures of the Kumu Waterfall and scenes from along the trail.
