Crossing the Berbice River with the Big Ferry in Region 6, Guyana, South America
Crossing the Berbice River with the big ferry was fun and sometimes tedious. Some people couldn’t stand the long waiting time between buying a ticket and waiting for boarding time. But once you got on board the big steamer, you feel the magic of sailing across the river on it. You could stand outside and look down on the gentle waters of the Berbice River, or you can just sit inside and hardly feel as though you are moving.
Oftentimes, you’d meet up with friends and acquaintances and spark up a chat as the boat sailed away. Personally, I preferred to just sit right there outside on the deck on the small bench with the feet on the lower rail and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
