\"rainbowVerbs give life to your sentences. They can be compared to the motors of cars: they make sentences go. But how well do your sentences go? That depends largely on the verb you use. Consider sentences A and B below:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. He walked<\/u><\/em> across the room.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

      \n
    1. He strode<\/u><\/em> across the room.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Which of the two underlined verbs above gives more expression and insight?<\/p>\n

      Below are two groups of sentences. The first group contains dull, vague verbs while the second group makes use of colorful, expressive verbs.<\/p>\n

      First Group<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. A young child walked<\/u><\/em> across the lawn.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        1. Into the cabin walked<\/u><\/em> a half-starved prospector.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

           <\/p>\n

            \n
          1. The injured ruby player walked<\/u><\/em> to the bench.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

             <\/p>\n

              \n
            1. A few of us walked<\/u><\/em> through the mud and slush.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

               <\/p>\n

              1. Angrily, the science teacher walked<\/u><\/em> into the room.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                1. At 9.03 he walked<\/u><\/em> into the school.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
