If you’ve ever heard the expression “run-on sentence” before, you probably wondered what that means. A run-on sentence is a type of sentence error<\/strong>. Run-on sentences need to be divided either into two or more separate sentences, or two parts of a compound sentence.<\/p>\n

In the examples below, the incorrect versions are run-on sentences.<\/p>\n

Incorrect:<\/strong> I am going to the supermarket I need to buy some candy.<\/p>\n

Correct:<\/strong> I am going to the supermarket. I need to buy some candy.<\/p>\n

Also correct:<\/strong> I am going to the supermarket because I need to buy some candy.<\/p>\n

Also correct:<\/strong> I am going to the supermarket; I need to buy some candy.<\/p>\n

Incorrect:<\/strong> Lemons are a good source of vitamin c, oranges are a good source of vitamin c.<\/p>\n

Correct:<\/strong> Lemons are a good source of vitamin c. Oranges are also a good source of vitamin c.<\/p>\n

Also Correct:<\/strong> Lemons are a good source of vitamin c and so are oranges.<\/p>\n

Also Correct.<\/strong> Lemons are a good source of vitamin c; oranges are also a good source.<\/p>\n
